Special Topics in MI Series Presents:

Motivational Interviewing in Supervision & Leadership

Over the years as a Motivational Interviewing trainer, I have had supervisors, managers and supervisors ask how Motivational Interviewing can be applicable in their work. Well, there are two books on the topic! Motivational Interviewing in Leadership Organizations (MILO) is a subgroup of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT). Join one of the authors, Colleen Marshall, in this workshop to introduce managers and organizational leaders to ways Motivational Interviewing applies in leadership.

 

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to a new adaptation of Motivational Interviewing for leaders and managers. Specifically, we will discuss how to apply the spirit, four tasks, and methods of Motivational Interviewing (MI) are an effective approach for leaders and managers to evoke change readiness among employees in an organizational setting. MI is a collaborative and goal-oriented style of communication based on empathy and listening and focused on the language of change. The workshop will set the stage for understanding how MI can positively impact leadership goals and approaches and will also share other opportunities to develop the skills and practice necessary to master this new application of Motivational Interviewing.

Who Can Register?

Any helping professional interested in learning more about Motivational Interviewing in Leadership Organizations! This is suitable for those already familiar with MI, or those at the intermediate or advanced level.

Speaker Bio:

Colleen Marshall, MA, LMFT

Colleen Marshall, brings over two decades of executive leadership experience in behavioral health and behavior change service delivery and management to her role as Chief Clinical Officer at Two Chairs. With a keen focus on behavior change methodologies, particularly Motivational Interviewing, Colleen has applied her expertise to multiple start-ups and established herself as a thought leader in the field. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), and the author of Motivational Interviewing for Leaders in the Helping Professions: Facilitating Change in Organizations

What Continuing Education is available?

Receive a certificate for 1 hour of CE for completing this course!

For CE, you must watch the video, score a passing grade on the quiz and complete the end-of-course evaluation.
We do not provide CE certificate for partial completion.
Following the learning session and completion of End of Course evaluation, participants will receive an email with their downloadable CE certificate within 48 business hours.

This course is is approved by the following continuing education listed above, or you can view our course syllabus for more details.
Does your board not accept CE from any of our continuing education providers? Upon workshop completion, you will receive a certificate of 1 hour of CE, and we will provide trainer bio and workshop objects to turn in to your board along with your certificate of completion.

Will I be receiving a recording of the event?

Yes, an email will be sent to everyone who registers whether you are able to attend the live event or not. Please allow 48 business hours after the event to receive an email. This email will contain a recording and any other references mentioned in the event.
